Jötunn
Overview
Mysterious Species.
Biology
They are tall, strung and sturdy which helps them survive the cold climate of their environment. They additionally are able to survive with lower body temperature for extended periods of time, during that their skin colour turns blue.
Magic
Many female Jötunn are Magicians while males usually rely more on physical strength and their sharp senses. Since they are isolated from other cultures they don’t follow any of the schools but instead have their own Magic traditions that make heavy use of illusions and trickery.
Culture
They live in small settlements dotted though a mostly forested environment. Since many crops don’t grow well in their area they rely on animal husbandry and hunting. They also often tame wild animals like Mammoths to use for labour.
It is not uncommon for nearby villages to raid each other. Their culture has a lot of emphasis on fighting. Strong warriors gain high prestige. Illusion and trickery is something considered discernable so it’s mostly used against other Species.
Warfare
Jötunn prefer to raid in smaller groups but sometimes they form larger armies to attack neighbouring kingdoms. Their favourite weapon is the axe but they also use spears and swords. Their favourite ranged weapons are throwing axes. Bows are uncommon.
Reproduction
Males are usually born as twins while females are not so there are about twice as many males compared to females. This creates a high competition between males over women. But reproduction has a lower priority for Jötunn compared to most other species since they live long and face little natural threats.
Jötunn brake most of the common rules for Cross Breeding and can even give birth to animal offspring.
