Human

Overview

If you read this you are likely one. In this universe Humans are fundamentally the same as in the real world.

Cultures

Humans live in each subcontinent of the New Continent besides the northern one.

Centre

The Central Empire is the oldest of all Human Empires.

Government
The Central Empire is rules by two equal rulers, one High Priest and one King. The High Priest can appoint priests and is the highest authority in religions questions. The King can appoint Kings below him, there for he is officially called King of Kings. He is also the direct leader of the army.
They both jointly decide over most other matters of the state such as taxes, government spending or laws. Both have to agree on the budget of each others domain, the King decides how much money the Church gets and the High Priest decides how much money the army gets.
Both titles are inherited and have their own family succession.
Religion
In their religious believe there is only one God and everyone else who is worshipped is fake or just a powerful mortal. The High Priest is considered to be a direct line of succession from the Son of the one God.
They tolerate members of other Species if they follow the same religious believes but prejudice against them is still very common. They are also often accused of being heretics. or secretly worshipping other gods.
Culture
Families and Tribes are considered secret. Which family and tribe you are born into mostly determines your success in live. All important titles are inherited and diplomacy is often done though marriages. Even middle class people often strategically marry their children to benefit their family business.
Economy
At the heart of the New Continent there are many trade routes leading though the Empire. This trade brings in a lot of wealth that is often collected by nobility and the Church.
Warfare
Mercenaries and Slaves from other Species play an important role in the Empires military. Slaves can even fill out high ranks and are often freed at the end of their military service.

North East

The Eastern Empire is a strictly hierarchical Empire where you need to past exams to be allowed to rise up in ranks.

Government
There is only one Emperor who is elected for life by the highest ranking government officials from their own ranks. The entire government is build on the idea of meritocracy and reaching higher ranks requires passing exams and doing a good job on paper. In reality there is a lot of nepotism and corruption.
Culture
The society is build on the idea of meritocracy. You need to perform well to rise in ranks. But this believe also means that you always have to respect anyone of higher rank because they must have deserved this rank. This logic doesn’t only apply to the government but also the family and workplace.
Economy
The economy is build on the idea of mercantilism. Import raw materials and export finished goods. This system generates wealth but makes the empire dependent on foraging imports.
Warfare
The army is entirely recruited from the empires population. Like other parts of society the army has a complicated system of ranks too. The number of battles a soldier fought in has a big influence in their rank which leads to new recruits being very eager to fight their first battles to not be the lowest rank any more.

South East

In the South East Humans are split into multiple Kingdoms that often fight against each other.

Government
Each Kingdom has it’s own line of succession. Royal marriages are often used to secure alliances.
Religion
A variety of different Gods are being worshipped. Each Kingdom has their own Gods but some are shared between multiple Kingdoms. Conquering a city or Kingdom always means conquering their Gods too, making them part of your own pantheon.
Warfare
Mounts are essential to warfare in this part of the world. The most common animals being used are Horses, Elephants and Camels. Higher ranking warriors often use chariot.

South

In the South there are also multiple Kingdoms but they are usually more united against external threats like Orcs. They gain a lot of wealth though trading with Dwarves.

Economy
Trade with Dwarves gives them access to high quality tools, weapons and armour. Unlike Human made equipment they are a lot more durable which leads to families accumulating a collection of them over time. The amount of those weapons are often an important status symbol. Having to sell them of is shameful.
Having such high quality tools available means there is not much of a market for locally made tools so blacksmiths are often limited to making simple tools or consumables like nails or arrow heads.
Warfare
Different Tribes and Kingdoms often only fight over material objects and resources instead of land. Conflicts are usually less bloody since most people are rather willing to lose their possessions then their life.
When fighting against external threads like Orcs this logic changes. Then most humans in this area are willing to fight together and even help each other out by voluntarily giving each other weapons and resources.

West

Unlike the other Human cultures they have a matriarchal society. They are also unique for allowing other Species into their tribes.

Government
They live in smaller tribes which are lead by women. The ranks are decided by seniority. The oldest women always leads the tribe.
Culture
Inheritance is entirely though the mothers bloodline since it can never be known for sure who the dad is. Men leave the tribe when they become adult and try to find a wife in another tribe.
Warfare
Since the live in smaller tribes they also usually fight in smaller groups.
